My journey to a greener life...one vegan plate, cloth diaper, and recycling bin at a time.
Thank you so much for all your helpful tips. I watched all your videos and read all your articles and learned so much! I have changed my lifestyle for the better, respecting my health and the environment all thanks to your videos and blogs! I especially appreciated the blog and video "Say No to GMOs" I have had a similar sensitivity issue to foods that I was never allergic to as a child and finally now I know why!!!! Thank you again and God bless you and your lovely family!
Hey Liz! So glad you are enjoying my blog and videos, it's great to find others who are passionate about getting healthier and kicking GMOs out of our food. Thanks for your support! Ashley
Ashley, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog! What do you use for a dishwasher detergent?
So glad you enjoy it! I use Ecover's Automatic Dishwasher Tablets: http://www.ewg.org/guides/cleaners/2460-EcoverAutomaticDishwasherTablets. Wish I could make my own some day...I've tried in the past with no luck. ( :
Hi Ashley, I just want to thank you again for all your amazing ideas. I love reading about Avery and all you do with her. I am a teacher as well and you are an awesome teacher because I am learning a lot from you! You have such a sweet sharing spirit! I plan on having a baby soon but I am so scared and reading about your experiences has really really helped me a lot. I feel like you are my big sister, helping me out and giving me great genuine advice! Thank you! I wanted to tell you about an awesome site I found the url is www.diynatural.com It stands for do it yourself naturally and it has dish soap recipes and even sun block recipes. I use this site to make my own stuff all the time! It is so nice to feel self sufficient and know what is in my detergents and soaps. It also has a dish washing liquid recipe I think you would like. Wishing you the best as always! hugs! You rock!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoy reading about all my green/parenting/pregnancy adventures. Thanks for the site link, I'll have to check it out. ( :
I'm going to try an altered version of this lady's dishwasher detergent. I have put the dry stuff in a recycled spaghetti sauce jar and I'll add lemon juice to the "cup" part of the door. I'll let you know how it works out.
Hey Ashley, I was wondering how you go green with your dogs? We have 2 shiba Inus who are very sensitive to chemicals, not to mention I would rather not be around chemicals either, which are commonly found in their monthly flea preventative and tick/mosquito treatments. What has worked for you? Thanks!
Hi Kiara,I've got one dog, a chow chow and I've tried a variety of ways to go green with her. She's struggled with health issues since she was a puppy (allergies, hot spots, etc.) so sometimes my green ideas work and sometimes they don't. Lately, I've been trying some doTerra essential oils on her instead of toxic flea collars or bug treatments, the one I've heard the most about is called, "TerraShield". http://www.amazon.com/doTerra-TerraShield-Essential-Oil-Blend/dp/B004O291IM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372853847&sr=8-1&keywords=terrashield Also, since learning about GMOs in this post: http://ashleysgreenlife.blogspot.com/2013/05/how-we-say-no-to-gmos.html I tried swapping her food out for an organic brand, "Natural Balance Organic" but we haven't seen much improvement, so we might switch back to the gluten-free brand we used before. So as you can see my green dog ideas are a bit more of a work in progress, I'll be sure to keep you posted when I find some things that really work. ( :
Hey there, I am a fifteen year old girl who is now completely obsessed with your DIY beauty products and all of your fabulous green ideas! I am so inspired by what you have done to inform people of whats really in our products. I have already switched to the no-poo method, made my own toothpaste and deodorant, and bought Dr.Bronner's! You have also influenced me to create my own blog(which is currently in the making) which will be about my journey to a greener life, and also reviews of the ingredient lists on commonly used beauty products. I just wanted to thank you for all of you have taught me, and tell you to keep at it!
Hi Jessie! Thank you so much for your kind words and it's so cool to see that your inspired to start your own blog! Please be sure to share the link with me when it's up and running, it's always nice to support other green bloggers that are wanting to "spread the word". Truly your comment made my day so thanks again! ( :Ashley
Hi Ashley,I can't find this on your blog; I'm not sure if you've discussed it- what dishwear/dishes do you use? I use Corelle, I'm wondering if this is safe/chemical free. There is mixed info out there. Thank you and I love your blog!Erin
I wish I could say I use a fancy, cool green brand, but I just use a variety of dishes like you mentioned, Corelle, ones from Target, etc. If I come across some cool green ones, I'll be sure to post about them, but in the meantime, my only green tip with dishwear/dishes is to throw them out if you see any chiping or cracks (which you probably do anyways!) just so none of the enamel or gloss on the plate/cup/etc. could come in contact with your food. On a side note, I use NO plastic dishes/dishwear/bowls or cups...I avoid it like the plauge! Hope this helps answer your question! ( :
